«When I was a teenager, I discovered something magical about music. I could „print“ memories from my travels into the music that I kept listening to. Upon returning home I was able to relive my memories just by listening to the same music. Dimensions does the opposite: it's an attempt to print our memories into our own music, ready for the listener to add theirs.»
DIMENSIONS is a musical travel diary. It's the debut album by composer duo Matteo Pagamici and Michael Künstle, created in collaboration and shaped by personal experiences, shared language and a fascination with storytelling.
The album was recorded with two line-ups at Abbey Road Studios in London: a 92-piece orchestra and a chamber ensemble of 25 musicians. It's a collection of stories shaped by contrasts, between clarity and ambiguity, stillness and momentum, dreams and presence. The orchestra, which was treated like a vast, living synthesiser, was conducted by Anthony Weeden (Arrival, Rings of Power) and led by Everton Nelson (Ryiuchi Sakamoto, Peter Gabriel).
Each track is a sonic portrait of a place, a memory, or a moment suspended in time. The record can be enjoyed with a book of photography and diary entries that expand the listening experience.
